Undated Records
Definition: an "undated record" is where you want to record that you have spotted a loco or unit, but you don't have the date.
For example, I have my old spotting book from 1976 - I have underlined many loco's but I don't have the date I saw them. So I can enter them in SpotLog as "undated records" and SpotLog shows that I have seen the loco's, but does not record a date against the loco's
There are four ways to enter Undated Records
You could also prepare an import file and import the records, see Import and Export
1) Entry through NotePad
To enter undated records in the NotePad,
- Set the entry mode to "Undated"
- Enter the number on the NotePad as usual, with "photo" and "Haul" options
SpotLog will attempt to match the number with a book entry using the usual process. If the number is ambiguous, you can dis-ambiguate in the usual way.
Once the number is matched, the item is removed from the NotePad - but will not be added to the log. Instead, the book entry is "Marked seen" (see below)
2) Entry in book (class level)
To mark loco's as seen in the book,
- Open the class view on the items you want to mark
- Tap the button at the bottom of the page "Mark Mode"
- The class page switches into mark mode:
- Tap the sliders as required to mark each line as "Seen" / "Photographed" / "Haulage"
- When finished, to exit mark mode, tap the button at the bottom "Normal Mode"
3) Entry in book (loco level)
You can also edit the mark as seen (etc) flags in the individual loco page
- Open the view on the individual loco
- Tap the sliders "Mark Seen" / "Mark Photo" / "Mark Haul" as required
4) Converting an existing log entry
- Open an existing record that you want to convert to undated.
- Tap the button "Make Undated": the item is removed from the log, and instead the item in the book is marked as seen, etc.
Note:
- You cannot make a record undated, until it has been matched with a book entry
- Undated records in the log can be converted to dated records.
