Consist Mode
Consist mode is available in version 5.2
Consist mode is designed to allow you to record a complete train composition, ie "Loco and consist". It can be used to record the formation of a freight train, a loco-hauled passenger train, multiple loco's, multiple units etc.
Entering Numbers in consist mode
To record a train consist:
- Tap the "Con" button to enter consist mode before entering the first item/loco in the consists
- Enter each item in the normal way
- When the whole train has been entered, tap the "Con" button again to leave consist mode.
- The consist mode button is top right on the default notepads - if you are using a custom theme make sure the custom theme includes the consist button. (see Themes)
- The button changes colour when in consist mode
If you cannot see the consist button, goto Settings and select the "Consist" theme.
Consists in the log
Consists are shown in the log by bracketing the consist items:
Example consist log, showing:
- HST power cars 43156 and 43097 together
- Steam loco 5541 hauling coaches 4923, 9003, 5813 and 5341
Note that the time and location are only shown once for the consist.
If you do not see the consists brackets in the log, check that the current theme includes the consist fields: the "Consist" theme includes the correct fields.
Editing a consist
As well as entering a consist through the NotePad using the consist button, you can edit existing log entries to add items to a consist, or remove items from a consist.
For example, suppose I see 220030 and 220006 running together, but I forget to tap the consist button before entering the numbers.
I can edit the log to link the two units together:
- Tap the log entry for the second unit (220030)
- The Edit Record page opens:
- Tap "Add to Consist" button
The app, links the record for 220030 to the previous record (220006). Note that the units now appear in the log in consist order, instead of order of entry:
Note:
- You can use "Add to Consist" multiple times to add more than one item to a consist.
- When you use "Add to Consist" the item is linked to the next item in the log - ignoring any items that are already in a consist.
- If an item is in a consist (and not the consist head) the "Add to Consist" button is replaced by a "Remove from Consist" button: Remove from Consist can be used to remove an item from a consist.
