The only surviving original loco from the former North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway/ Welsh Highland Railway, Russell was built in 1906 and operated over the Welsh Highland Railway between Portmadoc and Dinas.
When the Welsh Highland Railway closed in 1937 the loco was used for war work, and then moved to the Isle of Purbeck in Devon.
The loco arrived at the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway in the 1980s and now operates on the line, and occasionally on the Welsh Highland railway.
