EMU 49.0 consisted of 6 vehicles.
The prototype was manufactured by Ringhoffer and delivered to Tatranských elektrických železnic in 1931. It was designated #7 TEVD. Vagónka Tatra Smíchov manufactured the rest of the series, three more vehicles were delivered in 1954 and the final two in 1956.
The class was also known as M 400.1 and M 49.0.
The class was retired in 1975, apart from 001 and 005 which were used as work cars.
001 is now preserved as a static exhibit.
005 was equipped with a platform for overhead line repairs and then designated 495.955 in 1988.
