Class EMU 89.0 consisted of 18 units. 89.0009 was restored in 2018 and is currently in operation as a historic vehicle during the summer months. 89.0003 is currently undergoing restoration in Bratislava.
The prototype, 89.0001, was built in 1965 and entered regular service in 1967.
Series production units were delivered in 1969 and 1970.
In 1988, the class was redesignated as Class 420.95.
In 2001, they were gradually replaced by Class 425.95.
As part of 420 959‑9's restoration, it began carrying it's original number, 89.0009.
